Copa Los Angeles® - 2010
The 2010 year of a new SMI property, Copa Los Angeles®, will have a total attendance of more than 100,000 at 25 weekend tournaments across Los Angeles County.
Description of Property:
Copa Los Angeles® is a new umbrella outdoor adult and youth Hispanic Soccer tournament, scheduling 25 weekends (averaging 2 weekends per month for 12 months) on 25 venues across Los Angeles County, concluding with a televised semifinal and final match at California State University, Los Angeles, stadium capable of holding up to 10,000 fans. Total attendance for the year is anticipated to reach over 100,000.
This Cup is organized by Soccer Marketing, Inc., the rights holder to the trademarked name “Copa Los Angeles®.”
Soccer Marketing, Inc., (SMI) has a mission to bring together, by invitation only, the best teams out of the 200+ amateur Hispanic soccer leagues in LA County to compete in a year-long tournament, showcasing the best amateur players in Los Angeles. SMI will offer a grand prize of $50,000 cash to the winning team, $25k cash to the second place team, and $10,000 cash to the third place team.
DEADLINE: The deadline for receipt of signed contracts and funds for sponsorship of Copa Los Angeles® is September 15th, 2009.
Daily Activities:
Copa Los Angeles® will host 25 weekend events, occurring on Saturdays and Sundays afternoons from 9am to 5pm, beginning March 6, 2009, and will include the following activities:
-- 16 team adult round-robin tournament, in which two leagues bring their best 8 teams
-- 8 team u16 round-robin tournament
-- 8 team u-12-14 round-robin tournament
--Open tryouts for adult and youth all star teams conducted by professional scouts from Mexico on the day of the final match.
--Open tryouts for youth U16 all-star team
--Youth clinics each day hosted by professional Mexican soccer star (250-400 youth)
Calendar:
Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm, beginning March 6, 2010 and ending October 31, 2011. Field contracts will be secured by each invited league with dates outlined on our website: http://www.CopaLosAngeles.com
Attendance:
Daily attendance of 2,000 to 3,000 is expected, with a range of 100,000 to 150,000 total attendees over the 50 days of the Cup. We will have an independent third party audit our collected attendance data, with their report and detailed demographic data on Los Angeles Hispanic soccer fans available soon. Surveys:
Registration and surveys will be the means to collect attendee contact information for sponsorship use. Each attendee will be required to register in order to gain access to the free events. Attendees will be encouraged to register in order to win various prizes presented by Sponsors. Registration to win prizes will also be available at www.CopaLosAngeles.com.
Draw Party & Press Conference:
A draw party will be held on March 5, 2010, and a press conference will be held that evening, to announce the tournament schedule, for both adult and youth teams.
